The Jamb Cut Off Mark For Admission into University, Polytechnic and College of Education
The question most candidates are asking now after this year jamb exams is what is the jamb cut off mark for admission into higher institutions for this year?
But as you know that there are some criteria Jamb uses to peg the jamb cut off mark like general performance of candidates in jamb exams, the competitiveness of university, the course applied for, less privileges state and many more.
But if one looks at the performance of this year’s jamb exam to the previous ones, there is not much difference, therefore one can generally infer that this years jamb cut off mark is not going to be different from last year’s own.
There are some universities that will increase their jamb cut off mark due to large number of candidates that applied, for instance Unilorin has the largest number of candidates that choose Unilorin as their first choice. Hence there is every possibility that their cut mark will be higher that jamb pegged cut off mark.
So to reduce the number of candidates that qualified to participate in their screen exercise, the jamb cut off mark must be pegged higher. The same applies to some other competitive universities.

if jambpegged cutoff as 180 wat abt those they didn’t give 40 marks to they will sit at home.it’s not just fair to me cuz jamb has to think abt it cuz this is injustice
Please i don’t know why some schools still find it hard reduced their cut-off mark eg .. Uniben, ibandan , lasu.,and some others. Please help candidates.
Yes there are some institution that can work with the 180 jamb cutoff benchmark. The reason is that there are stiff competitions in those school and one of the first and easy way to reduce the number of candidates is to push up their cut off mark. Jamb also acknowledge and admit that some universities will not follow that directive.
